Dear TRRCOPO,

We can’t believe that the year is already half over. It’s been a good year so far and we are looking forward to the second half of the year and how we can help our local community.

Sincerely,
TRRC Team

We want to welcome our new Career & Employment Specialist, Christian Bridgewater He has joined our Workforce Development Department and will be working in the outer counties of Brown, Pike, and Schuyler. Please reach out to Christian for any outer county workforce needs. He can be reached at (217) 285-2216 or [email protected].

Community Development
Our agency is really excited about the work we are doing with the Two Rivers Land Bank Authority. We’re looking at several properties in the area to acquire through the land bank and get back into the community for development. Our marketing team is currently working on the website for the land bank and that should be up and running soon. You’ll be able to find property listings for sale on that website and keep up with land bank news. Follow this link Land Banks – Local Housing Solutions to learn more about what a land bank is and how it can have an impact on the community.
Community Services
LIHEAP has ended for the season. Keep an eye out this fall for when energy assistance kicks back up again.

We’ve recently received some flyers and other things on money saving tips from Ameren Illinois. Be watching out for those on our social media pages. With rates moving up and potential blackouts this summer, we want to do everything we can to keep utility bills down.
Weatherization
We are currently taking Weatherization applications in Adams, Brown, Pike, and Schuyler Counties for homeowners and renters. If you are interested in having your home updated to make it more energy efficient, please contact us at (217) 224-8171 and select the option for Weatherization.
Workforce Development
Our Workforce Development Department has been working with many summer clients. They enrolled many students in the John Wood Community College C.N.A. and C.D.L. classes.  Both June JWCC classes are at capacity with a wait list for the August classes.  Fall enrollments for all colleges have already begun and we are looking for individuals that might want to attend those classes. An increase in the federal mileage reimbursement from $0.585 to $0.625 has been welcomed by our customers requesting mileage reimbursement in order to attend classes and go to work.  In response to the nationwide jump in gas prices, an increase in the dollar amount of gas cards provided to some of our customers has already been implemented. If you need help with gas in order to attend training classes or get to work please reach out to us at [email protected].If you or anyone you know is in need of further vocational training, has a desire to complete the GED, or just needs assistance with a resume then please contact our agency at [email protected].
