Community Development

The Community Development Department is dedicated in assisting local governments in improving their communities. From strategic planning to project administration the Community Development staff assists local communities meet their needs. The department researches and finds funding opportunities for projects such as infrastructure, housing rehabilitation, transportation improvements and disaster mitigation. Once funding is secured the Community Development staff can assist in implementing these projects.

ILLINOIS HARDEST HIT PROGRAM

The Illinois Housing Development Authority has partnered with the U.S. Department of Treasury to offer temporary mortgage payment assistance to households that are struggling with income loss due to unemployment or underemployment, but are working to regain sufficient income to keep their home. Borrowers may be currently experiencing an income loss or experienced one in the past thatcaused them to get behind on their mortgage payments.

Homeowners must meet income criteria and show a documented income reduction through no fault of their own. If eligible, homeowner pays 31% of their income towards the mortgage and the program will pay the rest up to a maximum of $20,000. HHF will also cover mortgage arrearages.

Interested persons should go to www.illinoishardesthit.org and complete the application on line. Two Rivers Regional Council is a sponsoring agency for the counties of Adams, Brown, Pike and Schuyler.
